  • Regarding HMA in DOS 5.0+, you could use DOS=LOW in config.sys to leave HMA free for win286.

  • Loading DOS low is fairly pointless as that will cause DOS to use significantly more conventional memory.

  • please upload a korean windows 2.11

  • I don't recommend to emulate these kind of versions from Windwos 2.x on VirtualBox because you might experience problems. Try other programs, or use a real PC that has such requirements.

This driver is meant for 2.03, but would it work with 2.11? http://www.seasip.info/DOS/Win1/win2vesa.html

EDIT: found other drivers to use for higher resolutions
  • I failed to install this version of Windows 2.0. What should I do?

"Microsoft Windows 2.10 286 (Amstrad OEM) [Spanish] (3.5-720k)" doesn't install, since Disk1 is missing the USERF.EXE file, you can replace that entry with this version I uploaded and it works fine. https://archive.org/details/microsoft-windows-2.10-286-amstrad-oem-spanish-3.5-720k

Windows/286 2.1x seems not start on 8086/8088 in 86Box, no matter what graphics card used. They seems require at least 80186/80188 (or it could be a 86Box bug?). Windows 3.0 CGA starts on 8086/8088, but Windows 3.0 EGA/VGA do not as they require at least 80186/80188.

Windows/286 2.1x in fact used some new instructions in 80186/80188/80286, so these versions DO NOT REALLY support 8086/8088, just like Windows 3.0 built-in EGA/VGA drivers.
If you are using a 8086/8088-level CPU, you can only use Windows 2.03, or Windows 3.0 real mode with built-in CGA driver only.
If you are using a 80186/80188-level CPU, like NEC V20/V30, you can use Windows/286 2.1x, or Windows 3.0 real mode.
If you are using a 80286-level CPU, you can use Windows/286 2.1x, Windows 3.0 real or standard mode, or Windows 3.1 non-DBCS versions standard mode.
