Hex Edit the splash Screen

Hey? Im curious I read a bit about hex editing splash screens n' stuff on winboards but am also curious on how to acctually do it?

    3.x the logo is a BMP file stored in VGALOGO.RLE, 9x screens can be edited my making BMPs and naming them logo.sys, logos.sys, and logosw.sys.

    on my PS/2 win 3.1 i found the file but how do i go about editing it?

    Rename it to .BMP and open in Paintbrush

    Your gonna be thinking im prtty stupid but it wont work i renamed it and it still wont let me opener up in paintbrush

    Change it back to a RLE and then open it in Paint. If it doesn't work then copy it to a floppy and edit it on a PC that has win9x.

    There is no need to hex edit it. Just change logo.sys logow.sys and logos.sys and get what you want!

    You'll need Paint Shop Pro to open an RLE.

    So true. Download Paint Shop Pro 3.0 and put it on that Win3x machine. I forget if Windows 3.1 Paint can open .RLE files.

    I remember 2 years ago I made a Windows 3.1x 10 year aniversary logo...haha....
