  • UhO, Q Special coming up!

  • Okay. So I selected all the options for me to customize. Now it is slip streaming sp2 into my xp data folder.

this is going to be great. I can create an XP disk the way I like.
  • Okay. I am at the Unattended setup box and I dont know which to choose. Which should I choose.

Also what is unattened support? is it the same thing?
  • Okay. So I am just going to try differnet option to see what works best for me. It is now creating the ISO.

Then it will be time to try it in VMWARE.
  • I am taking screen shots of the classic XP setup (not the weird we always see) and what it looks like in the end. I will then post them.
  • Screen Shots of Setup:

  • The install finnally finished:

These are all the scrs I saw after I rebooted:

    A little odd:

No Welcome to Windows screens, or stupid music screens. I like it. Its more like 2000.

Other various SCR shots. No modifications made to windows:

Yes I kept IE in the install. I removed MSN, and Outlook Express however.
  • I love the 2000d XP installer. I alawys thought the XP style installer was flawed in the face of the oldstyle one.

The XP installer was supposed to be easy for the home user to use. But instead it was really crappy and annoying and had to many colours.
  • And you had no idea what the Final Steps were, untill 2000.

  • Yea... I like the 2000'd installer better, too.
  • Yeah too many options. It'd take forever to try them all.
It looked just like that but of course you knew it did.
I've made and burnt two so far. One limited the ram
demand and slowed it down a lot. The second works
much better except it can't take the video driver from
my driver disk. I can install it again and not install the
video driver, all the others work just fine.

  • So what all did you do thump?

I just rememoved Outlook Express, MSN messanger. I also changed to the classic setup and mad the classic theme, start menu, and control panel be classic.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • i like where no matter how fast a computer i put XP on it always says 39mins remaining lol
  • That XP is cool.
How the hell you've managed to replace some BMP's??
  • I wanna get my old very slim win XP install out

I wanna get it extrenmely small
  • w00t w00t 130MB! I deleted alot of stuff: Paint, Wordpad, IE, Luna Theme, and more!

I don't know what all I did. I checked to remove some stuff and
some were in groups and then I choose "Safe" and it checked a
lot more things itself when I did that. I don't have I.E. but I've
got an icon. When I click it something pops up and says:
"{null} is not a correct path."
It won't play songs either. The worst thing is it won't get on the
net and I can't seem to be able to set it. I put Netscape on and it
can load pages from a floppy but can't load from the net. This
one's not working too well. A little bit of overkill I think. Oh well.
I may try installing it again but I'm getting real tired of it now.

  • I removed everything I possibly could delete from the Windows install, and I was able to use the net from the small install I made.
  • Paint is actually very useful, really LOL
  • Yep it is. I use it to paste my Print Screens.
  • Ya, Paint is good, but I did save 1-5MB w/o it. My little XP runs great under 32MB! A tad bit of lag, but very little, I can run DOS programs, and best of all the IE core is gone!
  • I use IrfanView for that.
And I wanna ask JB how he replaced the BMP?
  • the background BMP for setup is really standard w/ nLite, when u set it to use Classic Windows Setup, it has that BMP

That setup program is already there. you just have to change something in the config files on the CD, which nLite did for me.
  • Today's Adventure:

Remove everything from XP, including the expiremental things. This has go to be interesting.
  • Okay. So my XP install is now only 116 MB. It should be smaller, but the folder I used had SP2 in it.
  • Okay. That was just gay. I can't do anything with that tiny XP install.
  • I got a 126MB install, and works, if you want a list of what i checked, IM me
