If you want to run multiple OSes, install the boot manager. If you're going to run just FreeBSD, install the simple boot sector.

And yeah, show me the list of Custom options.
XOSL has an awesome support of freebsd and all unixes.

  • I don't think he's suggesting that you use it on your machine, only supporting it instead of "the boot manager".

  • What are you gonna use it to?
  • What's not to like?

Linux is just easier than UNIX based OS's. If you read the handbook and get used to it, it's not that hard.
  • Linux is UNIX based...
  • I thought it was a clone of it...

  • Yes it is. It's only a some-what clone of UNIX.
  • in toms words its a "hackjob"

  • As far as versioning it's also about 1/2 as far as BSD (I'm going based on linux 2.6 = 2.3 thanx to that weird versioning system, and FreeBSD 5.2.1), so it hasn't had the same time as BSD. However it IS getting better (according to you) so maybe someday it'll satisfy your requirements.

  • its fin for what i use it for, i dont really wanna start compiling stuff just to use it

There, same idea, different means of comparison. There's about a 20 year difference there.
