What legal Windows do you own?

    Now I also have Windows 2000 SP4 (custom for Sony Vaio) on 2 cds.

    Why is it on 2 cds? Didn't XP and 2000 come in one disc?

    It's probably one of those "Restore disc" things.

    Yes. Quite complicated restore disks.

    Oh right. It's one of those. They usually come special with the computer. I don't know if Microsoft sells these as well.

    Microsoft just sells Windows and backup software (;)).

    It's a diy restore disk, actually. Sony includes an app to make one in the start->programs menu.

    That sounds cooler then just "Restore to the mfgr's default".

    You have to choose (I use advanced mode):

    1) FAT32 or NTFS [I used FAT32]
    2) The size of partitions 1 and 2 [I used 12GB:6GB

    i own ms-dos 4.01 on 5.25 disks and used to have a compuer with windows 3.1 and also have 98se and xp home sp2

    Probably the same reasons I'm not.

    And exacly what, is the reason? If you are not dual-booting with an older OS. Why not just use NTFS imo.

    Paranoia, etc. in my case. Mostly it's a holdover from past days, BlacI, etc.

    The NTFS installation always fails-I had to use FAT32 to install it.
