  • This mean only talk about Linux in here, or only keep the fighting in here?

    -Q
  • Keep all the "Linux sucks because of this" in here.

    talk can be anywhere.

  • No, WindowsXP is for homos. Looks gay, Acts gay and doesn't let you play manly games by freaking out everytime you play it.

Have to remember BSD and Linux are in the same Unix family. If you think Linux is for homos then so is BSD.

    since when?

I use Enemy-Territory several hours a day, Quake 3 every once in a while, and never ever have a problem with them. And my XP looks exactly like 2000.
  • Vice city daily, GTA3 every so often, no problems.
  • i play lots of big games on the desktop, post mortem is my favorite and i have gta 3 , that was demanding on the vid card so i upgraded and it was as smooth as a babys arse. but windows xp never complains
  • Linux != *BSD/UNIX.

It's just a homo remake that was designed to feel likt UNIX. The whole thing is just one big hackjob with the stability of a jenga tower.

In the context of the rest of that sentence I had to think about that 2x before deciding on the correct interpretation.

    -Q
  • Well in Linux you get Tux Racer. That's manly enough for a Linux user.
  • I actually had fun with that. Enigma, Pingus and "Circus Linux" were good too, I even installed Enigma on Windows . It's not really lack of games, Linux has plenty of games, it's the name brand/real popular one not getting ported, but that doesn't really affect me (Although I can completely understand other ppl getting irritated @ that).

    -Q
  • also doesnt Linux lack something like DirectX?
  • I think theres versions of WINE that can do that. But it's going to run like shit pretty much.
  • thats probably why there's no games then.
  • Yea but natively, is there any sortof framework that roughtly corresponds to what DX does on Windows? That's I think what he's trying to ask.

    -Q
  • A combination of OpenGL and SDL does basically the same thing.

  • OpenGL - Direct3D
    SDL - DirectInput, DirectDraw, DirectSound

OK, so not everything a DX programmer can use, but it's a good start.
  • Comparing a Microsoft product to a Linux product is pointless.
  • well. considering SuSE takes ages to load on my Sempron, takes ages to do anything and is generally slow. then yea
  • So, basicly you're saying that you can't compare the two becuase Linux is slower?
  • i cant do anything becuase i have to install dependancies. when was the last time i had to install things to run other things on windows (with maybe the exception of DirectX)?
  • Let's see, I've got a 250GB hard drive, looks like i need SP2 to address it properly...
  • Usually it's HARDWARE you have to install not soft.

    -Q
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Well, it would make sense to install SP2, might as well have the latest SP.
  • It also makes sense to install your Linux exploit patches too.
