  • Actually, I read that you don't even need an SP (just the registry change), but it's more dangerous without the updated ATAPI driver.
  • hmm - well considering that:

    Linux = Open Source
    Windows = Closed Source

    and nearly every Linux Server application pwns windows server apps and also the fact that bill gates is fucking dugly (Damn ugly), windows = crap. I use it for clients and games ONLY -> If decent linux distros LIKE SuSE came out (SuSE = Worse resource hog than Windows 2000), then Linux all the way.
  • Funny that this site is being run on Windows, and it loads way faster than www.oldos.org, which is run on Linux.
  • You are obviously some cockfag Linux zealot who needs to die a slow and painful death.

    And your point is?
    and nearly every Linux Server application pwns windows server apps
    No, that was the older IIS that retard server admins never secured. The new version comes secure as a rock out of the box. Look at the bug reports for Apache vs. IIS. And just so you know, I do use Apache.

    and also the fact that bill gates is fucking dugly (Damn ugly)
    He's not that ugly, but WTF does this have to do with software. Exactly nothing, now STFU you fudgepacking penuin fucker.
    windows = crap.
    You = idiot
    I use it for clients and games ONLY
    Where's your Linux games NOW? =) Isn't Tux Racer manly enough?
    If decent linux distros LIKE SuSE came out (SuSE = Worse resource hog than Windows 2000), then Linux all the way.

    It's still fucking Linux. It's one huge POS.

    And who cares if he's ugly, he's rich!

    Er...what's their connection speed and average users? OldOS seems more popular than WW.
  • I find OldOS loads faster than this site
  • I find oldos.org maybe slightly faster than WinWorld, but they do get hosted off a Linode.
  • Linux != slow connection speed.

    Even though it is a big pile of shit that come 500lb furry programmer crapped out.
  • Arguing over Linux v. Windows is pointless. That is like trying to tell someone that food they don't like is good.

    You've got a point there.

    Besides, I've established that Tom is full of shit. If he can't respect my opinion about my favorite Unix-like OS, why should I respect his opinion about his favorite Unix-like OS?
  • It doesn't really matter. All it is are opinions.
    It is what works out for the user that counts.
  • Or facts.

    Linux ain't got shit on BSD.

    Uh, what does that mean. Can you type non redneckish?

    Yeah, except that my opinions are littered with fact. Yours are just opinions.

    Opinions without fact are open to being wrong. Your opinions are almost always wrong.

    Tell me ... what does Linux have on BSD in the server department? What does it have on Windows XP in the desktop department?
    What do you mean by "have on"?

    So you're telling me that I think wrong? Are you a Communist or something?

    Desktop
    - Virtually idiot-proof, malware-proof, and virus-proof - can't click on "Windows XP.exe" and be infested with spyware and/or viruses
    - Better security (it's a much better model and easier to set up than XP)
    - Includes shitloads of free software to do what you would have to pay for on top of XP
    - Freedom of choice - self-explanatory

    Server
    - Support from companies such as IBM - Better scalability (i.e. mainframes)
    - Every piece of software can be easily optimized for a specific platform - hell, Gentoo pretty much forces you to do that
  • Desktop

    Hell, why not just get a fucking Mac. We're talking about normal users. And it's the same for BSD.
    - Better security (it's a much better model and easier to set up than XP)

    Easier to setup? I'd say about the same for XP and BSD.
    Includes shitloads of free software to do what you would have to pay for on top of XP

    Examples. You can probably find all that free stuff for Windows, and did you have hear of Linux binary support for BSD? LOL
    Freedom of choice - self-explanatory

    Sure, freedom to use a garbage OS, freedom to use a real OS. Whatever.
    Server
    - Support from companies such as IBM - Better scalability (i.e. mainframes)

    So? Theres a REASON why only one company is blowing millions on a shitty ass OS.
    Every piece of software can be easily optimized for a specific platform - hell, Gentoo pretty much forces you to do that

    BSD? LOL

  • Isnt Linux binary support in FReeBSD really slow or soemthing?

    Better security? Hah. There have been about 30 Linux kernel exploits in 2005 so far. Compare that to Windows, which has had none. Compare that to FreeBSD, which has had none.

    Er...how come when I say security, you think kernel security? Linux's file security is far better than Windows, where one can easily deltree c:\program files, as opposed to:
    ice@SirLancelot:~$ rm -rf /usr
    rm: cannot remove `/usr': Permission denied
    ice@SirLancelot:~$ ls /root
    /usr/bin/ls: Permission denied

  • Ohh, so thats why my dad got mad after I typed deltree C:\Program Files!
  • er....
    C:\Documents and Settings\guest>cd ../ben/my documents
    Access is denied.

  • Yeh, you'd need to be an admin or at least a member of the system to do that...
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • And since XP's default is to make everybody an admin...
  • C:\Documents and Settings\test account>cd ../ben/my documents
    Access is denied.

  • Is the account password-protected?
