Because BSD is it's own OS, it has a base system, whereas Linux does not. And all Linux distros are either RedHat based, Debain based or Slackware based anyway. That makes three. BSD has FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD. I rest my case.
Well. Linux seems to be actually selling. and becoming popular. You can walk into our local Staples and buy a boxed RHL. You can search all you want for a Unix OS but it cannot be found.
Because the majority of users are ignorant, why should they care that an application is using all their RAM? so long as it works they dont care most of the tiem

What does that have to do with it? If an application is using so much RAM then it is the application's fault (not the OS).
It was an example, my point is so long as it works people don;t care, it may work crap but it still works
Thats BS. I get complaints all the time about people saying things like 'my computer is so slow whenever i get on the internet' or '*insert application here* doesn't load fast enough'. No-one likes crappy applications.
*sigh* I get those complaints too, but if a new security patch comes out, how many people are going to apply it? Iknow a lot of people who won't mainly becuase their too lazy or they can't be bothered or don't know how. That's what I'm getting at
Not to mention the insane amount of people over at LinuxISO that download RH 9 (since AFAIK RH doesn't put the Enterprise ISOs up). It's like 2 and a half fucking years old, there should at least be a warning if the admins don't want to take down the links. In the forum there's a few stickies on various FAQs and people still ask. And then there's the occasional person that doesn't know what the hell they're talking about and misspells everything to be ghetto or summat:
actually, I won't bother retyping it because the person is so damn stupid. Just find all posts by this bitch.

You = fucking clueless. Most big iron runs Solaris/AIX/HP-UX/whatever. You can't buy that boxed at your local Computarshop, but don't be mistaken -- many, many servers run those OSes.

/me decides that 2am is too late to be argueing and stops
Linux is better than Windows when done right. So no Red Hat, Fedora (sometimes), or Mandrake.
