The SP4 retail version gets stuck on vmware.
It gets stuck on such text: "please wait while setup detects and installs devices such as...", and the progress bar is almost full
    + I waited for a long time
  • The Professional serial key doesn't work
  • Sorry for the second comment but I found the correct Win2000 Pro key:

  • @alexvlad3118 What do you mean? At least for the Greek version, it is SP1.
  • Failed to download Abandonware Operating Systems/PC (International)/Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.00.2195.6717.sp4) [Spanish].7z from IP 104.28.88.128 (potentially invalid download ID: 4023c28f-c399-18c3-9a11-c3a4e284a2ef)
  • Download seems to work fine for me. Probably just a momentary glitch.

.\I386\DRIVER.CAB is broken. There are numerous files with a size of 0 in DRIVER.CAB
  • Hmm, I'm not seeing any issues with that file. Perhaps try a different CD extraction tool and/or decompression tool.
  • @SomeGuy Windows Explorer can't open this file, and using 7-Zip to extract it will also prompt errors with some of the files. This results in some device driver errors in the finally installed Windows 2000, such as the battery driver. The issue was resolved by replacing the DRIVER.CAB in this ISO file with another one.
  • FWIW: `I downloaded "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.00.2195) [Simpl. Chinese].7z"

Extracted "win2000_chs_retail.pro.iso" and "winworldpc.com.txt" without issue.

opened the ISO with UltraIso - no errors, no zero byte files.

As the screen cap shows, DRIVER.CAB has a size of 50,853 kb.

Testing/Extracting the CAB file with both 7zip and Winrar reports numerous errors - see attached text file.

If the issue cannot be resolved, suggest using DRIVER.CAB from say, the server variant.

  • Ok, I see the issue now. Indeed the driver.cab in the server versions should be identical. So I did a binary copy and paste, repairing the ISO image - the ISO CRC now checks out, so that should be the only issue. It should be good to go now, so I uploaded the corrected ISO. If there are any other issues, please report them.
