Thats true. I remember one time when I was playin with IIS I was like, how the hell do you start this thing or is it started already or what? I eventually removed it and got Abyss. Abyss is outstanding.
  • You can make IIS run at bootup or start it from the IIS program in Administrator tools. I forget what its called, its been awhile since I used it.
  • Now I know it can be run as a service and starts once when you turn on the computer, but I like the idea of ahaving a console or something where you can change settings and what not. I dont think IIS has that.
  • IIs has its own setup. Its Admin tools. I forget what its called
  • First: Nemo, stop complaining about XP untill you have a computer that will RUN it.

Second: Apache isnt that hard, once you have someone explain it to you its pretty easy, but Abyss is definately easier, but doesnt work well with PHPBB / PHP / script caching. IIS is just horrible though, dont even bother.
  • YaY! I am using Abyss now!! IIS really sucks! AWS works great! Thanks much!
  • Once you goto Abyss, you don't turn back. Unless you jump to Apache.

IIS blows, and why the hell would anyone trust Microsoft with their webserver controls? i wouldn't.

Nemo has ASPLinux on his PC running far better than XP.
  • Becuase Windows XP runs like shit on a 500MHz

second, Linux runs like crap on.....EVERTHING!

Noooo!! Linux runs very fast even on P1! What kind of Linux were you using?

Large quantity of holes in XP does not depend on what computer you using.
  • I used many different distros. Its crap.
  • It is designed especially for SLOW connections. Get 24K and you'll understand how Opera is great!!
  • Were not talking about Opera. We're talking about Linux.

    It's crap :-)
  • I know. I am talking how great works Opera for Linux...
  • Hard to belive. Opera sucks anyway
  • IBM I seriously doubt your OS testing and reoporting ability. You propably look @ thr desktop and said "It's GAY!".

    =Q
  • Uhh....no

    Its a highly unstable OS
  • Uhh....no

    Its a highly unstable OS

you seriously need to rethink your idea of "stable" linux "owns" windows when it comes to stability and its much more secure....
  • The performance is shit, the OS is bloated and slow.

    BSD owns Linux

you ovioulsy didnt test them properly. u were probably usin some old comp. linux is stable
  • The hell it is. I was testing it on a Duron 900MHz with 256Mb DDR.

If Linux cant run on that, its got problems
  • Could have been an oddity. It's usually been stable for me.

My mom's school uses IIS. They're tech people who are of the common "Oh! It's a Microsoft product! It costs several thousand dollars! It therefore must be the best!" belief. -_-

Worst of all her grading system is running on IIS! -_-
  • yeah our schools like that, "oh look we NEED win 2003 adv svr and IIS"
  • LOL

"we need Windows 200 datacenter edition to protect out data from virus's!"
  • altho when i went ther 2day they had A64s in the library...

typical the year i leave it gets good
  • Its always like that, but I dont really care.

Its all Macintoshs with OSX. 700MHz iMacs - 2GHz G5's you cant tell the difference. Its gay as hell
  • But then the A64's in the library will run like Winnebago and IE, and a P3 1GHz would have been overkill...
  • lol our school is like that, most they need is 500 exept in design that is
